Dave Bellinger was tapped to be the mayor of Escalon in 2023, and it happened through an unusual set of circumstances. Bellinger stepped in as a councilmember in 2020 to fill in for Peter Krumeich, who stepped away due to Army Reserves commitments. While he shared with the Escalon Times that he believed the appointment would be short-term, he has served past his original commitment and now finds himself in the mayor’s seat.

Bellinger is a native of Escalon and a graduate of Escalon High School.

First appointed: April 2020

Day Job: Delicato Family Vineyards

Notable quote: “I started going to meetings and would ask, ‘we’re spending money on what?’ I’m a numbers guy by nature.” (Source: Escalon Times)
