As a member of what Palo Alto Weekly calls the city council’s “residentialist” faction, Tom DuBois has pursued a vision of slower city growth from the time he joined the council in 2014. A Palo Alto resident since 1995, DuBois listed these priorities on his campaign website: a city government that works for all residents, zoning that maintains Palo Alto’s residential nature, and efficiency and transparency in city government. DuBois has also served the community through his involvement in youth sports, the Gunn Music Boosters, the Palo Alto Housing Element Community Panel, and the Midtown Residents Association Steering Committee.
First elected: November 2014
Day job: Product management director, Intel Sports
Alma maters: Georgetown University (master's degree, business administration); Carnegie Mellon University, bachelor’s degree, electrical engineering, computer engineering and mathematics)
Twitter bio: “Hi, I’m Tom DuBois on the Palo Alto City Council. I am eager to serve the people of Palo Alto and excited about effecting positive change.”
Notable quote: Stay informed and hold your Council members accountable for serving the values they espoused in their campaigns and on the dais. Do not let the best qualities of democracy get hijacked in this age of expediency. (Source: Palo Alto Weekly)
