A new era of information technology, with the explosion of communication services offered through the internet, cable television and wireless communications, offers diverse challenges for Milpitas. In order to address the ongoing and rapid changes in telecommunications technology, the City Council formed the Telecommunications Commission. The commission advises the council on matters of telecommunications policy, legislation, and implementation at the local, state, and federal levels. The commission also considers and recommends information technology services that benefit the Milpitas community. Seven commissioners and two alternate members are appointed to three-year terms.

Unless held virtually, meetings take place in the Committee Conference Room, 455 E Calaveras Blvd, on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
