The Office of Emergency Services operates under the Police Department and serves the entire city of Morgan Hill. The office provides educational services for city employees, residents, businesses, faith-based organizations and schools to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies and disasters, both natural and man-made. The staff maintains an emergency operations plan in accordance with the state’s Standardized Emergency Management System.

Among the resources the office provides are information on building a disaster supply kit and creating a family plan, learning preparedness skills through Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training, maintaining a network of approximately 400 licensed ham radio operators, and offering a nine-step program called Map Your Neighborhood that helps neighborhoods be more resilient.
