VOLUNTEER DONATE

Monarch Services operates a 24-hour crisis line for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Call (888) 900-4232. The centers serve about 1,500 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault every year.

Monarch Services was founded in 1977, when volunteers secured a grant to open Mariposa House, a safe shelter for domestic violence victims. In 1987, the agency became one of the first rape crisis centers to be funded in California, and was instrumental in implementing one of the nation’s first sexual assault response teams. Help is available in Spanish and English, and outreach efforts have concentrated on neighborhoods with residents who have barriers to seeking services.
