Longtime local Rich Lansburgh ran unopposed in 2022 for his second term on the Woodland City Council. His priorities for his second term include strengthening economic development through smart growth, and finding immediate and workable solutions to homelessness—including affordable housing, mental health and employment services. He also seeks to improve public safety by promoting the effectiveness of fire and police services, and supports steps to make Woodland safer for pedestrians, joggers, walkers and bicyclists.

Lansburgh has lived in Woodland since 1966. He graduated from Woodland High School and attended community college. While working and raising a family, Lansburgh continued his higher education, eventually attending law school. From 1976 to 1997, Lansburgh served in the Woodland Police Department, working his way up to lieutenant in charge of the Patrol Division. In 1995 he became a member of the California Bar.

First elected: Nov. 6, 2018.

Alma mater: University of Northern California, Lorenzo Patiño School of Law (juris doctor).

Day job: Attorney.

Notable quote: “I still believe in the words ‘we the people’ as found in the preamble of the Constitution. I am just one person, one vote. It takes all of us to try and make this democracy work. I also believe that we each need to do our part whether we get elected, or volunteer or participate in civic events. We cannot just sit back and let a few do all the heavy lifting.” (Source: Candidate profile on VotersEdge.org)
