With more than 20 years in government and government relations, Michael Saragosa has experience dealing with legislators at the local and state levels. A former member of the Placerville Planning Commission and Historical Advisory Committee, Saragosa served under Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as undersecretary of State and Consumer Services. He also served as the director of the Employment Training Panel, as deputy cabinet secretary and chief deputy appointments secretary. Saragosa also worked as an aide for several members of the California Legislature. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Azusa Pacific University.


First elected: Appointed in October 2018; elected Nov. 6, 2020


Day job: With wife Brenda, he owns the Quintana Saragosa boutique public affairs firm in Sacramento.
