In 1969, California and Nevada banded together to create the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to manage the development of Lake Tahoe, which covers two states and multiple counties. The agency—the nation’s first bi-state regional environmental planning agency—is governed by a 15-member governing board and a 21-member advisory planning commission, as well as many stakeholders and members of the public.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) held their final governing board meeting this year. They discussed changes to parcels in the Tahoe Valley Area Plan, among other agenda items, and had lengthy discussion with the legal committee regarding permit noncompliance at the Tahoe Blue Event Center.

After an over seven-hour meeting, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Advisory Planning Commission approved two motions on its table regarding Homewood Mountain Resort's Master Plan Amendments at their meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 11, but not without a handful of edits.
Homewood Mountain Resort's revised master plan proposal will face its first major regulatory hurdle Dec. 11 when the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's Advisory Planning Commission reviews the updated application at a public meeting.
The plaza at Ski Run that once hosted Nepheles and Café Fiore is set to close for redevelopment at the end of April next year. While the construction on a new complex likely won't happen right away, pre-development applications have been filed through the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) and consulting work started earlier this year, leading the businesses in the plaza wondering exactly what they'll do come springtime.
In response to Homewood Mountain Resort's announcement it will remain closed for the 2024-25 season, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) said it is waiting for the resort to submit a more detailed public access plan, employee housing plan, and a development agreement with the North Tahoe Fire Protection District.
