Mayor Pro Tempore Marisela Lara

Marisela Lara graduated from Soledad High School and received a bachelor’s degree from California State University Monterey Bay, and then earned a master’s in public administration from San Jose State University. She uses that education in her work as a policy analyst for Chris Lopez, the District 3 supervisor in Monterey County  In 2018, when she ran for Soledad City Council, Lara told the Soledad Bee, “I chose public service majors as a gateway to give back to my community. By achieving this and running for elected office in my hometown, I feel that this is a way in which I can influence and establish policy to help others fulfill their ‘American Dream.’” Lara currently serves on the Parks and Recreation Committee.
