Dolores Morales first won her seat on the Hollister City Council in a Nov. 2, 2021 special election to fill the seat left vacant when District 3 council rep Honor Spencer stepped down. Morales was sworn in Dec. 13 to complete Spencer’s term, which ended in Dec. 31 2022. She was reelected to serve another term in November 2022.

On her campaign site, Morales highlighted her experience in grant writing and budgeting. Her priorities include making Hollister a community where the quality of life improves for everyone. Morales wants to build transparency in city government and work to secure funds for needed programs. “My planning experience is ideal for creating studies to maximize public areas for greenspace. Young families need community space for kids to play, and our seniors deserve designated areas where they can enjoy the natural beauty of Hollister,” she states on the campaign site.

Notable quote: Morales told BenitoLink.com that she wants “more communication with the community on decisions and items on the agenda and how they can communicate with us. Making sure we do a lot more community engagement and involvement and make sure they have a voice in the process and for them to understand the elements on why decision are made.”
