Since 2012, the City Council has consisted of a directly elected mayor and four councilmembers elected by the voters in their districts.  Citizens can watch meetings of the council and the city’s advisory commissions on the city’s YouTube channel.

Meetings: Meetings are held on the First and Third Tuesday of each month at City Hall Council Chambers, located at 375 Fifth Street in Hollister. Meetings start at 4:00 p.m.

A San Diego developer has submitted plans for a project called Baler Place, which would provide affordable housing for very low income households. It includes two three-story buildings with 53 apartments at 340 Bridgevale Road in west Hollister, and is still in the initial planning phase.
