The Milpitas Fire Department is responsible for all that its name implies—fire suppression, investigation of fires and arson, fire prevention, enforcement of fire and safety codes—and much more. The department staffs four fire stations that dispatch crews to handle fires, emergencies, motor vehicle crashes, and any call involving life-threatening medical symptoms.

The department’s Office of Emergency Services coordinates the city’s efforts to mitigate against, plan for, respond to and recover from natural and technological disasters. Its website offers a wealth of information for residents on emergency preparedness, as well as information on joining the Community Emergency Response Team and the Amateur Radio Emergency Service.
