Pat Showalter has been serving Mountain View in a variety of categories for decades. When her children were young, she was a Girl Scout leader and PTA member. She volunteered on Mountain View’s Planning Commission for nine years, and was elected to the City Council in 2014. Though she lost her bid for reelection in 2018, Showalter won a seat in 2020. “I had a lot of volunteer help that made a big difference. I had a good campaign manager this time,” Showalter told the Los Altos Town Crier, noting that she didn’t have one for the 2018 race.

Reelected: Nov. 3, 2020

Day job: Civil engineer specializing in water resources management.

Alma maters: UC Berkeley (master’s degree in civil engineering); Mount Holyoke College (bachelor’s degree, geology and America history).

Notable quote: “I realized very early in my career that the best political decisions must involve people with sound environmental knowledge, The last 20 years of my career were devoted to flood protection and environmental restoration.  Expected sea level rise makes the floods we must plan for so much worse. Serving on Council will give me the opportunity to protect my own community.” (Source: PatShowalter.com)
