Up until June 7, 2022, when 66.55% of Santa Cruz voters gave the thumbs up to Measure E, representatives on the Santa Cruz City Council were chosen in at-large races. Measure E amended the city’s Charter to create six districts and an at-large directly elected mayor. With the Nov. 8, 2022, three seats have been filled: councilmembers for Districts 4 and 6 and the new mayor.


Council meetings are live-streamed on Santa Cruz Community TV. To view the agenda for an upcoming meeting, follow this link. The council appoints citizens to serve on boards, commissions, committees, and task forces to assist in formulating policy. To apply, click here.
