A combination of teamwork, determination and serendipity were all at play when the Rotary Club of Folsom donated a van to a beloved cause - the Flying Samaritans.

The Sierra Nevada Alliance is hosting its biannual conservation conference Nov. 7-8 at Lake Tahoe Community College in South Lake Tahoe. They've titled this year's theme as Strengthening Conservation Impact Through Partnership.

On Sunday, October 13, the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe hosted the 31st Annual Golf Classic fundraiser at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. A total of 148 golfers participated, demonstrating their commitment to supporting local youth.

It was an evening of goodwill and community spirit at the Rotary Club of Folsom on Thursday as members gathered for a special presentation, awarding a much-needed van to the Flying Samaritans. The van will be used to transport volunteers on their missions, which provide vital medical, dental, and optometry services to underserved communities in Baja California, Mexico.

The Sacramento County Board of Sipervisors approved, at its Oct. 22nd meeting, up to $1,137,788 in funding to complete construction on Joshua House, a facility that provides end-of-life comfort care for homeless individuals with terminal illnesses, after being discharged from an acute care hospital.

Recently, St. Theresa's Bread & Broth organization was awarded a very generous $16,000 grant to address food insecurity in the Lake Tahoe South Shore community.

If you passed over the Rainbow Bridge or were on the recreational trails along Lake Natoma on Saturday evening, you likely saw a sight to behold. The call for all witches and wizards last week proved successful, as hundreds turned out for the annual Witches on the Lake event to support the fight against childhood cancer.

Over 35 years ago, Father John Grace, St. Theresa's Pastor, envisioned serving food to the local community when many were struggling, faced with job layoffs and a lack of food on the table. His efforts, along with the help of members of the Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church and other community-minded members of the South Lake Tahoe Community, brought to fruition the Bread & Broth (B&B) organization.

Exciting growth is coming to Folsom’s world of education, from the grade school level to community college. That was the message of the recent Meet the Leaders event at Bayside Church in Folsom and presented by Choose Folsom.

The new Ski Run Community Park in South Lake Tahoe has opened with towering play structures to climb and a sprawling lawn for picnics, the park has transformed from a vacant lot into a gathering place for families.

Arts and Culture El Dorado has extended the deadline for submissions to Slope & Basin, a new literary journal publishing poetry and prose from writers based in El Dorado County, to Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
