Folsom’s long-awaited, bright and shiny new fire station was celebrated and officially opened recently with a joyous, community celebration.

The Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team announced the release of a new map that has been created to showcase fire restrictions throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin. The map shows who owns the land and what type of fire is permitted. It can be found here underneath the "Prescribed Fire & Current/Upcoming Fuels Reductions" map on Tahoe Living With Fire.

Smoke may start to arise on the west shore of Tahoe as the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team begins its fall prescribed fire program on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

A precarious pile up of vehicles, including a bus donated by Tahoe Transport, was staged by South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue at Welcome's Auto Body and Towing to train fire departments on how to extract people safely from car crashes.

The El Dorado Hills Fire Department was joined by members of the local community Monday to carry on a tradition of remembering one of their own that lost his life in the line of duty.
