Placerville operates under the council-manager form of municipal government. Councilmembers are elected at large for four-year staggered terms of office at the general municipal election in November of even-numbered years. The council elects the mayor, who serves a one-year term. Agendas are posted in the front window at City Hall on Fridays and are also available online. The meetings are public; residents can attend or view the meetings on Comcast Cable 2, the government access channel. The meetings are rebroadcast on weekends.

Meetings: The City Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Hall, 549 Main St.
