The South Tahoe Public Utility District is governed by a five-member board, selected by eligible voters who reside within the district boundaries. The board establishes procedures and goals, and adopts policies, which are implemented by the general. Directors do not represent speccific segments of the community, but instead represent and act for the community as a whole.
Anyone interested in running for a seat on the board must be a registered voter within the district. Board members receive district medical, dental and vision benefits and in accordance with Section 16002 of the Public Utility Code, also receive a $400 monthly stipend. The next election will be held on Nov. 1, 2022. Seats 1, 2 and 5 will be up for election. For information, comments or concerns contact Melonie Guttry, executive services manager/clerk of the board, by emailing executiveservicesmanager@stpud.us.
