The city attorney is the general counsel of the city, as well as the Successor Agency to the Salinas Redevelopment Agency. The office provides a full range of legal services and manages outside special counsel. The city attorney is the chief legal adviser to the City Council, city manager, departments, and all appointed boards and commissions. The city attorney has authority to review and approve all contracts, to enforce the City of Salinas Municipal Code, and to represent the city in litigation.
