Elected in November 2018, Alison Kerr is the first female mayor of Del Rey Oaks. She has a bachelor’s degree in human communications from California State University, Monterey Bay and works at the Naval Postgraduate School, where she manages the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Internship Program. She believes her work at the naval school “helps grow the next generation workforce to keep our country and armed forces safe and on the forefront of innovation.” A co-founding member of Sustainable Del Rey Oaks, she is also active in the Del Rey Oaks Neighborhood Watch, the Concerned Citizens for Del Rey Oaks, and the Citizens Action Group. When Kerr ran for re-election in 2020, she pointed out in her campaign ad, “During my first term, I successfully made good on my promises. The city now has our first-ever reserve fund, paid off a $500,000 debt, finally joined Monterey Bay Community Power, stopped advancement of proposed Airport access road and put solar panels on City Hall.”
