The Santa Cruz County Commission on Disabilities operates on the premise that all people with disabilities are entitled to the opportunity to participate fully in society. This proactive advisory board serves to ensure equal access for persons with disabilities, advising and working with the Board of Supervisors and the county on issues impacting persons with disabilities and their families, and increasing opportunities for persons with disabilities to reach their maximum potential.

The commission consists of 10 voting members who serve four-year terms. Supervisors nominate one person with a disability from within their districts to serve on the commission and an additional person who is either a person with a disability or an immediate family member of a person with a disability. The managing supervisor of the local office of the California Department of Rehabilitation, or a designated representative, serves as an ex officio member.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month at 12:30 p.m. at the Santa Cruz County Building unless they are held remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
