The Town of Loomis operates under the council-manager form of municipal government. The Town Council is composed of five elected members who serve four-year staggered terms. The councilmember receiving the highest number of votes in the latest election is seated as mayor pro tempore the first year and then mayor in the second year, when the councilmember receiving the second highest number of votes becomes the mayor pro tempore. The council passes resolutions and ordinances, establishes administrative policy, approves the budget, and appoints citizens to advisory boards. The council also hires the town manager, who administers the affairs of the town and sees that laws and ordinances are enforced.

Meetings: The Town Council meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Train Depot, 5775 Horseshoe Bar Rd. Residents can also attend via Zoom or watch on the town’s YouTube channel.
