Monte Sereno filled its open council seats three months early—and canceled its Nov. 8 municipal election—after just three candidates applied for three open seats. The City Council made the decision Aug. 25, appointing three former councilmembers to fill the seats beginning next year.

After just over three years as chief of the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department, Peter Decena has resigned. The town announced his two-week notice in a press release.
