Few cities embody the high-tech revolution more fully than Mountain View. In the 1930s and ’40s, the U.S. naval air station at Moffett Field and NASA Ames Research Center were catalysts for aerospace and electronics innovation. Today, the city’s biggest employer is Google; also in the top 10 are Intuit, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Synopsys and Samsung. In their time off, hard-working locals can find many sources of relaxation, including Shoreline Park, the Mountain View Center for the Arts, and at restaurants and shops in the pedestrian-friendly downtown.
