The city attorney, under contract with the City of Scotts Valley, is responsible for the administration of all legal affairs of the city. The city attorney advises the City Council and staff on all matters of general and municipal law.

The City Attorney’s Office represents the city in legal matters, and prepares all ordinances, contracts, and other legal documents. The staff renders legal advice and opinions to the City Council, the Redevelopment Agency, city and agency boards and commissions, and city staff. The attorney also oversees all work done by outside counsel on behalf of the city.
