Soda SpringsSoda Springs is a winter wonderland filled with fun for the whole family. For kids ages 7 and younger, the Planet Kids snow play area features tubing carousels, tubing lanes, snow volcanoes to climb, and more. Families can also enjoy 10 tubing runs at Tube Town, perfect for all ages. Palisades Tahoe opens for its 75th season on Nov. 22, 2024. | Palisades TahoePalisades Tahoe opens the 2024-25 season, marking the resort’s 75th anniversary, with $75 lift tickets from Nov. 22 to 27. The ski area is now scheduled to open Nov. 22. As we head into the holidays, the annual season of reflection has a new twist this year with the results of national and local elections still reverberating. No matter where you landed on various races, one constant continues to shine through – Lake Tahoe transcends politics or any single election cycle. It's important during divisive times to lean into what unites us at Tahoe – a love for the lake, our communities, and the passion to protect this special place.
RED ROCK CANYON, Nev. – Governor Joe Lombardo joined Nevada's State and Federal land and resource management agencies to reaffirm the State's ongoing commitment to the Nevada Shared Stewardship Agreement, a landmark interagency initiative aimed at protecting and restoring landscapes while reducing the risk and impact of catastrophic wildfires. The signing ceremony took place at the BLM Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, situated within the scenic Spring Mountains-Pahrump Shared Stewardship priority landscape, known for its rich natural and cultural resources.
California, Heavenly Mountain Resort, and Kirkwood Mountain Resort are looking ahead to the upcoming ski and ride season and are already planning for the snow to start falling. Heavenly will open on Nov. 20, followed by Northstar on Nov. 22 and Kirkwood on Dec. 6.
MINDEN, Nev. – Douglas County announced the selection of Wendy Lang as its new Assistant County Manager. Lang brings nearly 11 years of experience with Douglas County, including nine years as the Director of Human Resources. During her tenure, she has played a pivotal role in leading key initiatives and driving organizational transitions, most recently as Acting Assistant County Manager where she was instrumental in transitioning the governance of China Spring Youth Camp and developing the Douglas County Strategic Plan.
Years ago, I left memories in Oregon to enroll in college at San Francisco, a city I found a sense of belonging—and my cup of tea on and off campus. It was at the student union and nearby café that took me to the place I fell in love with the world of non-teas or so-called herbal tea. One memorable afternoon, at the student union, I ordered ginseng tea—it gave me a boost of mental energy to get through the next class—Creative Writing to the D-day of my oral exams. Thanks to herbal tea I survived the challenge and faced the challenging task to be evaluated on three authors works loves by a panel—a trio of no-nonsense English professors. It was chamomile tea that calmed me through the three-hour session that would determine if I'd attain a master's degree. TAHOMA, Calif. — California State Parks announced D.L. Bliss State Park will remain closed for camping and partially closed for day use into summer 2025. This extended closure is necessary to complete an ongoing waterline infrastructure replacement. Campground reservations for the 2025 season at D.L. Bliss State Park will not be available until further notice.
