Amidst national trends of declining charitable giving due to economic pressures, SCH remains committed to its mission of providing critical services to the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee community.

Kings Meats extended their annual turkey giveaway to South Lake Tahoe this past Sunday, providing over 700 turkeys to families in need. This remarkable act of generosity, traditionally held only in Placerville, was made possible through the support of El Dorado County residents, family-run small businesses, community leaders, Kings Meats guests, and the El Dorado Community Foundation.
The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe is proud to be a recipient of a grant from the Community Impact Fund, the Foresight Fund, the Gap Fund, and the Human Fund held at the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation. This generous grant will support BGCNLT's Teen Programming across the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee communities.
The Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association launched its 2024 End-of Year Giving Drive. Following a highly successful 2024 trail-building season, TAMBA has set the ambitious goal of raising $250,000 by the end of this year to support its work in 2025 and beyond.
The November 19 South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting had city housing manager Jessica Wackenhut Lomeli at the podium for several items, including discussing an amendment to employee housing ordinances, contracts with the Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless and Live Violence Free, and decisions on Placemate's role in the Lease to Locals program, which ends on January 15, 2025.
The Tahoe Fund is opening its annual call for projects. The nonprofit is seeking projects for its 2025 portfolio that will increase the pace and scale of forest restoration, improve lake clarity and health, encourage sustainable recreation, provide innovative solutions to transportation challenges, and create more stewards of Lake Tahoe.Â
Bread & Broth will be hosting its annual Thanksgiving holiday dinner on Monday, November 25. This event will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Grace Hall at 1041 Lyons Avenue, South Lake Tahoe, from 4-6 p.m. All members of the South Lake Tahoe community are invited to attend and enjoy a wonderful meal to celebrate Thanksgiving and the upcoming holi-days.
The Rotary Club of Truckee is raising funds for a global grant project to improve maternal and neonatal health in the rural region around Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. In partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Lake Atitlán (District 4250) and other Rotary clubs worldwide, the initiative will expand medical services and train local healthcare providers, saving countless lives.
The Climate Transformation Alliance, in collaboration with the North Tahoe Chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) and 100% Renewable Truckee, will host a webinar on "Community-Led Thermal Energy Networks: Learning from Vermont" on November 20 as part of its series for community leaders and the general public on "How to Electrify Buildings in Truckee Tahoe."
The Tahoe Chamber announced that vendor applications are now open for the 2025 Go Local Business Expo, scheduled for April 3, 2025, at the Tahoe Blue Event Center. As Lake Tahoe's premier B2B networking event the Expo provides unparalleled marketing and networking opportunities for businesses to engage directly with over 1,000 attendees—including fellow vendors, community members, and industry leaders.
With over 34 miles of new trail constructed in the last 7 years, Truckee Trails Foundation has brought new and varied trail-based recreation to the Truckee region. Building largely on public land, TTF has been working especially hard to create diverse trail opportunities for the diverse recreational interests within our community.Â
On Friday, Nov. 8, the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation hosted a community discussion titled "Achievable Housing for All: For Now and the Future," focusing on the housing needs of older adults in the Truckee area. The discussion, part of the Foundation's ongoing speaker series, shed light on the challenges seniors face as they look to age in place and continue living independently in the region.
The Town of Truckee and the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) launched a new partnership for animal services, effective January 5, 2025.
"We all get old, and sometimes we need help. Being a widow and living on one income—it has really helped, especially with the state of the economy," a client receiving food from Meals on Wheels said.
Save the date for a special Truckee Chamber of Commerce mixer on November 14. Local interior design firm and furnishings showroom, Tahoe Modern, is set to host November's Monthly Mixer at their location at 10700 Pioneer Trail. The event runs from 5 – 7 p.m. and features a jam-packed itinerary.

We recently released our Tahoe Fund Annual Report, and it is clear that last year was full of transformational change for Lake Tahoe. Our partners throughout the region rallied around projects that are speeding up forest health treatments, undertaking large-scale conservation projects, and revolutionizing how recreation and tourism are managed. Much of this work is in large part due to the philanthropic generosity of our community.
The Sierra Nevada Alliance is hosting its biannual conservation conference Nov. 7-8 at Lake Tahoe Community College in South Lake Tahoe. They've titled this year's theme as Strengthening Conservation Impact Through Partnership.
