The Truckee Optimist Club invites the public to their New Member Drive "Meet and Greet" on Thursday, November 7, 5:30 p.m., at the Truckee Community Center.
Recently, St. Theresa's Bread & Broth organization was awarded a very generous $16,000 grant to address food insecurity in the Lake Tahoe South Shore community.
The Truckee Chamber of Commerce announced the opening of the 2025 application cycle for the Truckee Core Values Fund. This community event fund, established in collaboration with the Town of Truckee and administered by the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, is designed to support local nonprofits in the region or events that partner with nonprofit organizations by providing essential marketing resources for local-focused events.
The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation hosted their second Lunch and Learn program with speakers Heidi Volkhardt Allstead and Jackelin McCoy of the Truckee Tahoe Workforce Housing Agency (TTWHA), Chelsy Delia from Guild Mortgage, and Isaac Landman of Placemate. The session was titled "Updates from the Field: Achievable Housing Lunch and Learn" and focused on what programs are currently happening in the area to bring "achievable" housing to North Shore and Truckee.
Over 35 years ago, Father John Grace, St. Theresa's Pastor, envisioned serving food to the local community when many were struggling, faced with job layoffs and a lack of food on the table. His efforts, along with the help of members of the Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church and other community-minded members of the South Lake Tahoe Community, brought to fruition the Bread & Broth (B&B) organization.
Youth development nonprofit, SOS Outreach, plans to award an estimated $45,000 in scholarships to families this winter season. The nonprofit, which engages over 3,000 youth annually across 10 states and 15 communities, helps young people develop life skills through the power of mentorship in the outdoors.Â
Bread & Broth is extremely grateful to be the non-profit charity organization selected by the Azul Latin Kitchen teams members to be its charity fundraising partner for 2024.
SOS Outreach, a youth development nonprofit dedicated to outdoor-based mentorship, welcomed John Monson as their VP of Development. In this role, Monson will oversee all fundraising, partnership, and marketing efforts. He brings nearly 30 years of valuable experience from the ski industry and nonprofit sector.

Sierra State Parks Foundation restarted its summer garden club at Sugar Pine Lodge. From June to August, volunteers came out every Saturday morning weeding, pouring mulch, and maintaining the mansion's front flower beds and fishpond.

The City of South Lake Tahoe extends its deepest condolences to those impacted by the Davis fire in the Reno area. South Lake Tahoe residents and business owners experienced the challenges of evacuation during the Caldor wildfire threat in 2021 and many found accommodations and services in surrounding communities. In response to the ongoing fire, the City of South Lake Tahoe is collaborating with partners to do the same for those displaced.

Whether it's at lunch, during a free period, or after school, 4Roots is steps away from the Truckee High School campus and offers a place to destress and decompress from the challenges of daily life in a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
On Friday, September 6th, Bread & Broth resumes their B&B 4 Kids School Year Weekend Food Bag program. Weekend food bags are distributed every Friday at all five pre-K through 8th grade schools in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (Bijou Community School, Meyers Elementary School, Sierra House Elementary, Tahoe Valley Elementary, and South Tahoe Middle School ) along with students enrolled in the McKinney-Vento program at Lake Tahoe High School and Mt. Tallac Continuation High School.
The Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation's popular fundraising program, Dining for Schools, returns on Sept. 22 with the addition of two new participating restaurants—Wild Pine at Northstar California Resort and Best Pies Pizzeria & Restaurant.
