Cindy Gustafson was appointed to fill a vacant District 5 seat on the Placer County Board of Supervisors after Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery resigned to serve as director of the state’s Forest Management Task Force. She ran for reelection in the March 2020 primary and cruised to victory with 73 percent of the vote. In her campaign statement, Gustafson wrote, “I have lived, worked, and raised my family in Placer County for 36 years. I served as General Manager of Tahoe City Public Utility District, and then as CEO of the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, always working collaboratively with leaders in government, business, and environmental organizations.” She outlined her priorities on VotersEdge.org: ensuring fiscal accountability and transparency; increasing investment in forest health and fire protection; supporting local business; and promoting housing for young families and workers.
