The Tahoe Transportation District is a bi-state agency created by legislators of California and Nevada in 1969 and is responsible for operating South Lake Tahoe’s coordinated transit system, which includes the South Shore fixed-route service, plus commuter service connecting with Carson City and the Carson Valley, and paratransit service.
The TTD receives policy direction from an appointed 12-member board of directors.

The Tahoe Transportation District held its first public workshop for the Short-Range Transit Plan (SRTP) on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The session provided insights into the district's plans for 2024-2029 and sought community feedback on future transit services.
