After winning reelection in the November 2020 election, Kathy Watanabe told San Jose Spotlight https://sanjosespotlight.com/watanabe-park-take-lead-in-santa-clara-city-council-districts-1-4/) she plans to continue fighting for the goals of Mayor Lisa Gillmor, which includes battling the 49ers over financial transparency, stadium management and event curfews. In addition to her service on the council, Watanabe has served the community as as a trustee on the City of Santa Clara Board of Library Trustees (2008-2016) and president of Santa Clara Sister Cities Association (2013-2016). She also played a role in the opening of the Northside Library in the Rivermark Community.
