The Community Development Department’s mission is to plan for a safe, healthy, and prosperous Salinas through targeted revitalization and sustainable land use and development. Department functions include planning, permitting, management of federal funding, housing production, code enforcement, and business development.
The department is made up of six divisions: Plan & Project Implementation, Advanced Planning, Current Planning, Permit Services, Code Enforcement, and Housing & Community Development. The department website offers resources to learn about its past and present plans and projects.
On Monday, May 15, the city of Salinas announced the appointment of Lisa Brinton as the new community development director. Brinton was previously the assistant director of the Community Development Department.
