Non-Emergency: (831) 758-7321
Fire administration: (831) 758-7261

The Salinas Fire Department presently has six stations with the plans and land allocated for a seventh. SFD has a contract with Monterey County Regional Fire Protection District to provide fire protection services to a portion of that district, bringing the total protection area for SFD to approximately 55 square miles. Providing for the overall management is Fire Administration, which is made up of the fire chief, deputy fire chief, training battalion chief, two administrative captains, and two administrative assistants.

One of SFD's primary goals is to promote fire safety in the home. The staff is also charged by state law to regularly inspect public buildings. The Fire Prevention Division is made up of a fire marshal, three fire inspectors, one part-time fire plan checker, and one full-time office technician. Disaster preparedness is another responsibility. Currently, due to budget cuts, the fire chief and the department CERT instructor are the disaster preparedness officers.
