The Planning Division is responsible for the programs that guide the physical development of Los Altos. The planning staff follow policies set forth in the general plan, neighborhood-specific plans, design guidelines, and the city's zoning ordinance.

The Planning Division reviews development proposals and general public information services. Planning staff also works with Code Enforcement when necessary to document and resolve zoning and building code violations.
