Bruce Houdesheldt was appointed to the City Council to serve out the remaining term of Bonnie Gore, who resigned to take a seat on the Placer County Board of Supervisors. He was selected as vice mayor in December 2020 and will become mayor in December 2022. A native of Maryland, Houdesheldt moved to south Placer County in 1991 and has made Roseville his home since 2007. He began his volunteer service with the city as a Public Utilities Commissioner and more recently served on the Planning Commission and the city’s Community Priorities Advisory Committee. Houdesheldt is as director of water quality for the Northern California Water Association, where he represents Sacramento Valley family farmers to ensure compliance with waste discharge requirements of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board. On his campaign website, Houdesheldt shared some thoughts on the post-COVID world: “The pandemic will require Roseville to fiscally reinvent itself.  Our economy will need to pivot from the retail center of the region, to one that attracts global healthcare cluster and builds innovative therapies. Together, as one Roseville, we can plan our economic recovery and create the next generation economy.”
