Councilmember Shawn Leuthold

Shawn Leuthold grew up in Colorado, Oregon, and California. He and his family originally lived in the Cambrian neighborhood of San Jose before moving to Seattle, where he practiced law before coming back to the area in 2007, when he settled in Monte Sereno. As a practicing business and family law attorney for more than 20 years, he handles matters ranging from business start-ups and complex litigation to family law. He lists the following among his priorities on the council: “forming a citizens’ commission to explore regional solutions to the housing crisis and lobbying for change in Sacramento; organizing local events to increase emergency preparedness; and overseeing the city budget process and avoiding unnecessary litigation.”

First elected: November 2018

Notable quote: “When I go around and talk to people, I listen to them and I'm not very interested in talking about myself. I don't have a whole lot of agenda that I'm trying to change Monte-Sereno except in the way the government is running and interacts with the people.” (Source: Youtube)
