The affordable housing units in progress for the last two years in South Lake Tahoe finally had their grand opening this Thursday. Mayor Cody Bass along with Julie Regan of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), Ann Silverberg of Related California, and Lyn Barnett of the Saint Joseph Community Land Trust (SJCLT) cut the ribbon and heralded in a bright new phase of affordable housing on the rainy day.

The citizen's ballot initiative Measure N, also known as the Tahoe Vacancy Tax, has had a bumpy ride as far as the text goes. Like many measures that go up for vote, there are portions that are written to be legally defensible, but can be largely unclear for the average reader. The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation hosted their second Lunch and Learn program with speakers Heidi Volkhardt Allstead and Jackelin McCoy of the Truckee Tahoe Workforce Housing Agency (TTWHA), Chelsy Delia from Guild Mortgage, and Isaac Landman of Placemate. The session was titled "Updates from the Field: Achievable Housing Lunch and Learn" and focused on what programs are currently happening in the area to bring "achievable" housing to North Shore and Truckee.
After the first North Shore workshop was cancelled due to the Davis Fire, the Tahoe Living team rescheduled their "Cultivating Community" workshop to October 7, giving North Tahoe residents an opportunity to talk about what they want to see in housing development.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – In early May this year, the City Council of South Lake Tahoe directed the staff to prepare an impact report on the Vacancy Tax initiative. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) has launched the next phase of its affordable and workforce housing program, the Tahoe Living strategic priority, and announced today opportunities for additional community representation.
September 26 was the deadline to submit campaign disclosure and contribution documents for both the support and opposition committees regarding Measure N, also known as the Tahoe Vacancy Tax. These documents, now in the public record, reveal what individuals, organizations, and groups have contributed money to each committee.
The Tahoe Housing Hub is now accepting applications for its groundbreaking Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Accelerator Pilot Program.
