The measure prohibiting vacation home rentals in residential areas will once again be heard in the El Dorado County Superior Court of California. A trial is scheduled on Nov. 27 on issues a higher court sent back.

Among other rate increases from Liberty Utilities and Southwest Gas, the city of South Lake Tahoe announced a proposed rate increase for solid waste collection. The city is part of the Joint Powers Authority (JPA) called the South Lake Tahoe Basin Waste Management Authority and will be holding a public meeting to consider these adjustments on December 10 at 5:30 p.m.
One of the most widely discussed topics on the ballot this election was Measure N. And though it would have needed a majority to pass as a citizen's initiative, the majority appears to reject it soundly.
Election Day on Nov. 5, didn't keep City Council from meeting. It was business as usual Tuesday morning in the City of South Lake Tahoe council chambers where Mayor Cody Bass, Mayor Pro Tem Tamara Wallace, and Councilmembers Scott Robbins and Cristi Creegan met. Councilmember Devin Middlebrook was absent.
The City Council for the City of South Lake Tahoe initiated proceedings for the annexation of parcels incorporating the Heavenly area at their meeting Tuesday, Nov. 5.
939 people are on the waitlist for the eight affordable housing properties in the City of South Lake Tahoe, according to the most recent report from analyst Lydia Zuniga. It's a small increase from the 891 people on the waitlist reported last quarter.

The Tribune spoke with six residents of South Lake Tahoe to see what their reasons were for voting yes or no on the hotly debated topic.
Two City Council seats will be up for grabs in the City of South Lake Tahoe this coming November.
The affordable housing units in progress for the last two years in South Lake Tahoe finally had their grand opening this Thursday. Mayor Cody Bass along with Julie Regan of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), Ann Silverberg of Related California, and Lyn Barnett of the Saint Joseph Community Land Trust (SJCLT) cut the ribbon and heralded in a bright new phase of affordable housing on the rainy day.
City Council for the City of South Lake Tahoe and the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement establishing the South Shore Transit Joint Powers Authority on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
The citizen's ballot initiative Measure N, also known as the Tahoe Vacancy Tax, has had a bumpy ride as far as the text goes. Like many measures that go up for vote, there are portions that are written to be legally defensible, but can be largely unclear for the average reader. Much of the election talk this season in South Lake Tahoe has surrounded Measure N, the controversial vacancy tax measure, but there is another measure on the ballot that some are hoping everyone can agree on. That measure is Measure U, the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Classroom Repair Measure.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif.– The boil water advisory for the South Tahoe residents on the Heavenly mountainside of Pioneer Trail between Ski Run Blvd and Fern Road has been lifted; the tap water is safe to drink. The South Tahoe Public Utility District collected additional water samples within the affected area on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Chlorine levels were normal and there were no bacteria.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – In early May this year, the City Council of South Lake Tahoe directed the staff to prepare an impact report on the Vacancy Tax initiative. In June, according to the California Elections Code 9212, the city then published the impact report, available on the City of South Lake Tahoe website.
Two City Council seats will be up for grabs in the City of South Lake Tahoe this coming November. The seat held by Councilmember Cristi Creegan and another seat, previously held by former Mayor Pro Tem John Friedrich and now held by Councilmember Devin Middlebrook, are set to expire in December.
September 26 was the deadline to submit campaign disclosure and contribution documents for both the support and opposition committees regarding Measure N, also known as the Tahoe Vacancy Tax. These documents, now in the public record, reveal what individuals, organizations, and groups have contributed money to each committee.
