The founder and owner of Tahoe Wellness Center, billed as “Lake Tahoe's Original Locally Owned Cannabis Dispensary,” Cody Bass believes in sensible change with a perspective that reflects local residents and business owners. “We must prioritize our budget to align with the priorities of the city, Public Safety and Roads. Directing the increases in City Administration over to Public Works,” he told SouthTahoeNow.com. “I would like to see an overall shift in the Culture of the city, were the city works with existing businesses and properties rather than court corporations to build businesses where the corporate headquarters exist outside our City.”
Bass won reelection to the council in the general election on Nov. 8, 2022. He was selected by the council to serve as mayor pro tem on Dec. 13.
First elected: November 2018
Day job: Owner of the Tahoe Wellness Center

Ultimately, the council voted 4 to 1 to not appeal the ruling and unanimously voted on a 45-day moratorium on issuing VHR permits in areas where Measure T prohibited them.
The South Lake Tahoe city council met Tuesday to do their strategic planning retreat, which helps the council get on the same page with their newly elected members, staff, and directors. This year, city council identified priorities in growing Tahoe's economy, equitable access and recreation, housing, public safety, transportation, and protecting the environment.
After lengthy litigation on the citizen's initiative Measure T, which prohibited short-term vacation home rentals in residential areas, El Dorado County's Superior Court deemed that the measure's wording was unconstitutional and struck the entire measure. The city of South Lake Tahoe is now deciding whether or not to file an appeal once they receive entry of judgement.
The March 10 city council meeting addressed the Chateau site, also called the "hole in the ground" after consultants returned with findings, whether electric scooters like those provided by Lime and Bird would be slashed, the budget for Ski Run Business Improvement District, and updates from the city's general plan.
