The City of South Lake Tahoe is a general law city and uses a council-manager form of government. Five councilmembers, elected at large for four-year staggered terms, govern the city. Races for the city’s elected officials are held in November of even-numbered years. Members of the public can go online and find agendas and live meetings of City Council and Planning Commission meetings, or they can sign up for notifications on a variety of city actions, including bid postings, council and commission agendas, airport status reports, and news about recreation activities.

The City is thrilled to share the winners of this year's "Name a Snowplow" contest. The fun and imaginative names were submitted by kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe. With over 120 entries received, narrowing down the list was not an easy task. After an exciting round of community voting in December, the results are in.
Last Tuesday, both social media and news outlets had mixed reports on whether or not there was an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence in South Lake Tahoe.
Tahoe locals can make their personal mark, literally, and assist in the construction of the new South Lake Tahoe Recreation and Aquatics Center by sponsoring a commemorative tile for permanent display on the building entry wall.
