The Commission on Aging was created to serve as an advisory body to El Dorado County’s Board of Supervisors. The commission and the board work together with the director of the Area Agency on Aging. The commission works to gauge community interest for various events and functions, and brings awareness of the issues and struggles facing seniors in El Dorado County.
Issues of interest include development of a community center development, improvement of senior services and resources, prevention of elder abuse, and equipping seniors with the assistance they need to remain in their homes.
The commission has 14 members, comprising county appointments, Commission on Aging appointments, representatives from each district, and a supervising member. Most members serve for two years, and meetings are held once a month. Meeting locations rotate through multiple areas throughout El Dorado County.
Generally meets the third Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. (no meetings in July and December).
