The El Dorado County Community Action Council is seeking to fill two member vacancies with individuals who can represent the interests and concerns of people and families with low incomes living in El Dorado County, with a special focus on housing, nutrition, and low-income program needs. The deadline to submit a member application is April 22.

After lengthy litigation on the citizen's initiative Measure T, which prohibited short-term vacation home rentals in residential areas, El Dorado County's Superior Court deemed that the measure's wording was unconstitutional and struck the entire measure. The city of South Lake Tahoe is now deciding whether or not to file an appeal once they receive entry of judgement.

Auditor-Controller Joe Harn has updated the list of El Dorado County's highest compensated employees for the calendar year 2024. The list of the top 100 compensated employees based on the cost of total salaries and benefits is available online at edcgov.us/auditor-controller. Click on "Payroll Division" then "Top Paying Positions." 

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce, Tahoe Prosperity Center, and other "outside agencies" in El Dorado County were surprised in February with the board of supervisors' decision to completely cut their transient occupancy tax funding and roll it into the general fund—a decision that may have lasting repercussions on tourism and business in the area.

As of this week, the responsibility for residential sprinkler and smoke/carbon monoxide alarm inspections in El Dorado Hills will shift from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department to the El Dorado County Building Department.

The South Tahoe Transit Joint Powers Authority (STTJPA) announced the swearing-in of board members and the successful conduct of its first meeting. This significant event marks a new chapter in enhancing public transit services for the South Lake Tahoe community. The establishment of the STTJPA is a collaborative effort between the City of South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County, aimed at creating a more efficient and effective transit system.

A new El Dorado County Department of Transportation garage may be coming to the west shore. The current garage located at 7100 Wilson Avenue has reached its end of life and plans are getting underway to replace it.

After nearly five years of notices, fines, and fees, El Dorado's Superior Court has ruled that Sunray Hotel will be either rehabilitated or demolished, due to the risks to health and safety it poses to the city. The city petitioned for an order to abate in October 2024, which received a tentative ruling on Thursday last week and an official ruling on Friday after a hearing.

The final El Dorado County Board of Supervisors meeting in 2024 featured discussions of clean energy, wood utilization and rural community development among other related issues.
