Elected as El Dorado County sheriff-coroner in an unopposed race in the June 2022 election, Jeff Leikauf began his career in 1990 as a correctional officer. With three decades in law enforcement, he has served in many capacities, including correctional officer, school resource officer, detective, sergeant, and SWAT team member.


Leikauf is an active member of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers of America, National Association of Tactical Officers, California Association of Tactical Officers, Nor Cal COPS, Drytown Masonic Lodge, and the Sacramento Men’s Senior Baseball League. He is a supporting member of the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of California, California Rifle and Pistol Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, California Deer Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Ducks Unlimited.
