Councilmember Mary Badame ran for reelection in 2022, winning another term in a six-way race for three open seats. “As an incumbent with a consistent voting record of preserving our Town’s character, I have decades of community service in public and private sectors providing me with the experience necessary to make decisions impacting the future growth and character of our Town,” Badame told San Jose Spotlight during the campaign. As a local insurance agency owner, Mary Badame has provided families and businesses with financial advice, risk management, and asset protection. And at the same time, she built a long résumé of service in local government, volunteering for the Planning Commission, Historic Preservation Committee, and Conceptual Development Advisory Committee, among other roles.

Notable quote: “As a licensed property and casualty insurance agent, I am unable to provide home insurance coverage for many residents in Town due to a high risk of wildfire in Los Gatos. Our Town residents are at high risk for loss of homes, businesses, and lives.
