The Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA) recently reached a major milestone in its 2024 End-of-Year Giving Drive, exceeding $200,000 in funds raised since the beginning of the campaign in mid-October this year. This puts the organization at 80% of the way to its ultimate goal of raising $250,000 for Tahoe trails by the end of December.

Tahoe National Forest has released an Over Snow Vehicle Use Map, which shows where on the USDA Forest Service lands snowmobiles are allowed to go and where they are prohibited. The map implements the OSVÂ Use Designation plan adopted in May 2024.

The wait is over and winter kicks off at Boreal Mountain for skiers and riders. Boreal will open to the public on Friday, November 22, for its 60th season, with skiing and snowboarding beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until 8 p.m as a Play Forever Friday with $25 lift tickets for all guests. $5 of every Play Forever Friday Ticket purchased on opening day will be donated to a local non-profit.

Soda Springs is a winter wonderland filled with fun for the whole family. For kids ages 7 and younger, the Planet Kids snow play area features tubing carousels, tubing lanes, snow volcanoes to climb, and more. Families can also enjoy 10 tubing runs at Tube Town, perfect for all ages. The resort opens on Nov. 27 for the 2024-25 season.
California, Heavenly Mountain Resort, and Kirkwood Mountain Resort are looking ahead to the upcoming ski and ride season and are already planning for the snow to start falling. Heavenly will open on Nov. 20, followed by Northstar on Nov. 22 and Kirkwood on Dec. 6.
At Truckee Donner Public Utility District's Nov. 6 board of directors meeting, the board approved the submission of the 2023 Power Source Disclosure Report and Power Content Label, and approved agreements for leases in Truckee Regional Park to enable the development of the new Truckee Library and Rocker Memorial Skate Park.
With over 34 miles of new trail constructed in the last 7 years, Truckee Trails Foundation has brought new and varied trail-based recreation to the Truckee region. Building largely on public land, TTF has been working especially hard to create diverse trail opportunities for the diverse recreational interests within our community.Â
As both the leaves and temperatures fall, the USDA Forest Service typically prepares its recreation sites around Tahoe for winter by closing down parking areas, restrooms and amenities around mid-October, but this year, their keeping a few select sites open well into November.
On Wednesday, Oct. 23, the Town of Truckee held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of two significant capital improvement projects: the Truckee River Legacy Trail 4A and the West River Streetscape Project.
