After retiring from the tech industry, longtime Silicon Valley denizen Rob Rennie left the semiconductor industry to develop products that improve solar energy. In 2014, he was elected to the Los Gatos Town Council and won a second term in 2018. In 2022 he ran again and won another term. During the campaign, Rennie told San Jose Spotlight, ºIf re-elected, I will be the only council member with more than two years experience both in local Los Gatos government and in county government organizations.”
He has been active in a number of organizations, including several positions of leadership in the Sierra Club. His community service includes Los Gatos Morning Rotary, the Los Gatos Community Foundation board. the Los Gatos Beautification Committee, the Parks Commission, and the Community Emergency Response Team.
