Emergency Communications Committee

WEBSITE

This committee's key function is to provide emergency radio communication services between the Los Altos Hills Emergency Operation Center facility and the Santa Clara County Office of Emergency Services and other municipal emergency communication facilities, as well as hospitals and emergency service groups. Communications will take place using federally sanctioned amateur (ham) radio operating frequencies. Committee members will organize and implement periodic “simulated disaster” emergency communication drills and participate in similar drills organized by other emergency preparedness groups.

To be ready and able to provide emergency communications, the committee will train a group of amateur radio operators and maintain equipment to support Emergency Operation Center operations. Committee members will also be trained in the effective use of cell phones and other communications. The membership shall consist of a minimum of five members and a maximum of 25 members, all of whom are either licensed radio amateurs or individuals in training for licensed status.

Meetings are held in Los Altos Hills City Council Chambers at 26379 Fremont Rd. on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm.
