The Youth Commission gives Los Altos Hills teens a voice in local government and a path to civic involvement. Youth commissioners volunteer at town events and help increase and broaden youth participation. They also work on at least one project that makes a significant contribution to the community.
This Commission serves in an advisory role to the Community Relations Committee, which then advises the City Council on issues affecting young people. Members are selected via an application process and candidates are interviewed by the council. A combined maximum of 20 middle and high school students who are Los Altos Hills residents serve one-year terms and are eligible for re-election for up to seven terms as long as they remain active on the commission and continue to meet eligibility requirements.
Meetings are held in the Parks and Recreation Building, 26379 Fremont Road, on the first and third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.
