The Board of Supervisors is the legislative and executive body of county government and also serves as the governing body of the Nevada County Sanitation District 1 and the Nevada County Housing Authority. In addition, supervisors represent the county on numerous intergovernmental bodies. In its legislative duties, the board adopts ordinances, resolutions and rules. As an executive body, the board’s duties include approving contracts, conducting public hearings, appointing members of boards and commissions, and providing policy direction to the county executive officer.

After listening to feedback from Truckee residents, the Board of Supervisors canceled plans Tuesday for supportive housing for people experiencing homelessness in Truckee.
The Nevada County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution on Tuesday, Feb. 11, adopting the Truckee Fire Protection District's (TFPD) Capital Improvement Plan, Mitigation Fee Annual Expenditure Plan, and 5-Year Findings Report for fiscal year 2024/25. The plan includes annual inflationary adjustments to Development Impact Mitigation Fees, commonly known as AB 1600 Fees.
